PRECIOUS METALS AND GEMSTONES

Every decision Angharad May makes, is to create a better environment for our amazing planet and the people who mine our beautiful Gemstones and Metals. Whilst being able to enjoy designing and making beautiful dainty jewellery.

Angharad May uses a mixture of Recycled Silver, Recycled Gold and SMO Gold (on request).

As of August 2024, we are transitioning over to using Fully Traceable Semi-Precious Gemstones, instead of Gemstones referred to as Ethical. Being Fully Traceable means the Gemstones are Fully Ethical from the Mine, to being cut and right back to our Jeweller’s bench here in Yorkshire.

Where Gemstones are labelled as Ethical it can mean that they are Ethical in some ways but not fully. Generally meaning from our experience, you can’t trace the Gemstones back to the mines, and therefore you don’t know the conditions of the mine e.g. working conditions and pay and who is mining e.g. child labour. As well as how the environment is being looked after during and after mining has taken place. With Tracebale Gemstones you can. It is very authenic and transparent.

We also use sustainably made Lab Grown Cubic Zirconias as an alternative option to Mined Gemstones.

Our main suppliers for Semi-Precious Traceable Gemstones are Nineteen48.

ECO FRIENDLY PACKAGING

All of our packaging is Sustainable or Recycled. It is sourced from suppliers who’s mission is to provide Recycled or Sustainable packaging, and we are very proud to be associated with them. Our main suppliers are Tiny Box Company and Westpack Packaging.
